The king was not only taxing the colonies on all trades but was taxing them for a war (The French and Indian) they had no part in. They were being forced down by the monarchy with something we know well as "taxation without representation’’ Which really just means there was no justification for taxing the colonies. So when the first shot was fired during the Battle of Lexington and Concord (Aka the shot heard ‘round the world lol) and the Revolutionary war semi started I believe that was justified, I believe the 5 Authors of the Declaration of Independence had reason.
