The admission procedure to the Dachau concentration camp was completed in the shunt room; this procedure was brutal and meant for the prisoners the loss of personal rights, liberty and human autonomy.

In the Second World War, the concentration camp was used on a large scale as a means of combat against civilians. The first German concentration camp was established in 1933 at Dachau. Here mainly communists and to a lesser extent social democrats were put in, soon followed by Jews.

Instead of the usual gray and white suits, the prisoners were given the well-known striped prison clothing. The different groups of prisoners could also be distinguished by differently colored triangles that had to be sewn on the left chest and on the right thigh: a red triangle for political prisoners, a green one for professional criminals, a blue one for emigrants, a purple one for Jehovah's Witnesses, a pink one for homosexuals, a black one for 'antisocials' and a yellow one for Jews. The German concentration camps were brutal. In addition to the deprivation of liberty, there were often serious misdeeds by the Germans.
