The huge volcanic plateau that extends across most of southern india is known as the Deccan plateau.
The Deccan Plateau is a broad plateau in India which comprises most of the southern portion of the land. It is among three hill ranges and stretches over eight Indian states; in specific, the lands of Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are on that plateau.
That plateau comprises 422,000 square kilometres (163,000 sq mi), 43% of India's landmass.
