The first stage, the Tension Building Stage, of Cycle of Violence is usually the longest stage out of 3 stages/phases. It usually last for weeks and starts when minor insults, assaults, and threats were involved. The partner might want to appease their other part to soothe the negative mood but it usually leads to the second stage of the cycle.
