A number minus 8 times its reciprocal equals 2. What is the number? (There may be more than one answer)

let x be the number.
so we have x-8/x =2.by multiply x on both sides to no x in the denominator.  
so, x^2-2x-8=0 by factoring we have (x-4)*(x+2)
either x=4 or x= -2 by substituting x=4 is the number. 
the answer is 4.
