I came up with something but not sure at all, so if you don't get anything better, check with your teacher to see if it makes any sense!
After spendings Ruben deposits $32.5
So I ask;
After how many of Shawna's $37.5 deposit + $750 will be equal to how many of Ruben's $32.5 + $850
i.e. 37.5x + 750 = 32.5x + 850
37.5x - 32.5x = 850 - 750
5x = 100
x = 20 weeks
I check this Ruben = 32.5x20wks + 850 = 1500
for Shawna = 37.5x20wks + 750 = 1500
It actually checks out. Good luck..

In 20 weeks they will have the same amount of money in the bank.
Given that:
Shawna has $750 in bank account.
Shawna adds $37.50 in the account each week.
Ruben has $850 in bank account.
Ruben adds $102.75 each Monday and spends $70.25 each week.
Thus Ruben, in resultant, adds $102.75 - $70.25 = $32.50 per week in her bank account.
Let in x weeks, both Shawna and Ruben will have equal amounts in their respective bank account. Then:
Amount added by Shawna in her bank account in [tex]x[/tex] weeks = [tex]\$37.5 \times x[/tex]
Amount added by Ruben in his bank account in [tex]x[/tex] weeks = [tex]\$ 32.5 \times x[/tex]
Since both will have same amount, thus:
[tex]\text{Total balance in x weeks in Shawna's account = Total balance in x week in Ruben's account }\\\\$750 + 37.5x = 850 + 32.5x\\\\x(37.5 - 32.5) = 850 - 750\\\\5x = 100\\\\x = \dfrac{100}{5}\\\\x = 20[/tex]
Thus, in 20 weeks, both will have same amount in their respective bank accounts.
