Joseph Raymond Mccarthy was a republican senator from the State of Wisconsin elected in the year 1947 and continued his post until his demise in 1957. He was the most famous public face during the 1950's, during the era of communist Subversion. He is also known for alleging innumerable soviet and communist who have infiltrated the United States Federal Government, industries and universities.  

McCarthy was practicing the assertation of subversion without any valid evidence and his reign was also termed as the Second Red Scare of the United State that lasted till the 1950's. The Rosenbergs were convicted in charge of spying for the Soviet Union. Their execution sustained the influence of McCarthy during that era.
