To compare fractions you need to make their denominators the same and then compare their numerators.
[tex]\frac{3}{7}=\frac{3 \times 5}{7 \times 5}=\frac{15}{35} \\ \\ \frac{2}{5}=\frac{2 \times 7}{5 \times 7}=\frac{14}{35} \\ \\ 15 \ \textgreater \ 14 \xrightarrow{so} \frac{15}{35} \ \textgreater \ \frac{14}{35} \xrightarrow{so} \frac{3}{7} \ \textgreater \ \frac{2}{5}[/tex]
3/7 is bigger.

lets first convert these unlike fraction into like fractions....by taking their LCM and making their denominators same ..and then u can compare them .so LCM of 7 and 5 is 35..now we need to make both the fractions multiply with such a number which give the denominator 35..
=>3/5=3/7 X5 =15/35
=>2/5=2/5X7 =14/35
so the fractions are : 15/35 and 14/35
therefore : 15/35 > 14/35
i.e, 3/7>2/5 ..
hence 3/7 is bigger ...
Hope it helps !!!
