Harriet Tubman, a prominent abolitionist and humanitarian, valued liberty deeply. She believed in the fundamental right of all individuals to be free from oppression and enslavement. She dedicated her life to fighting for the freedom of enslaved people, risking her own safety to lead them to freedom through the Underground Railroad. Tubman famously said, “I freed a thousand slaves; I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.” She saw liberty as an essential aspect of human dignity and worked tirelessly to secure it for others.
