Friar Laurence agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet because he believed, once the two were married, the unity would end the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. He took the fate of two teenagers, without their parents consent, into his own hands. Many see him at fault for the whole tragedy that is William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."
