A rectangle on a coordinate plane has vertices at (7,5), (-7,5), (-7,-2), and (7,-2). What is the perimeter of the rectangle?

Respuesta :

perimeter of a rectangle;

P=2l+2w

lets say the length is horizontal and the width is vertical. the distance between the x coordinates will determine the length and the distance between the y coordinates will determine the width. once you have those numbers you can use the perimeter formula.

|7 -(-7)| = 14
l = 14
|5-(-2)| = 7
w=7

P=2(14)+2(7)
P= 28+14
P= 42
  • The perimeter is a measure of the number around with a form that provides everyone a sense of a surface of the shape.
  • The entire distance of its exterior is the perimeter of the rectangle.
  • It is twice the length and width of this product and is computed using the formula:

[tex]\to \bold{Perimeter = 2 (length+width)}[/tex]

Given:

Coordinate of rectangle:

[tex]\to \bold{(7,5), (-7,5), (-7,-2), and (7,-2)}[/tex]

By using coordinates we calculating the length and width:

[tex]\to \bold{l=|7-(-7)|=|7+7| = |14|=14}\\\\\to \bold{w=|5-(-2)|=|5+2|=|7|= 7}[/tex]

[tex]\to \bold{Perimeter = 2 (length+width)}[/tex]

                       [tex]\bold{=2(14+7)}\\\\\bold{=2(14)+2(7)}\\\\\bold{=28+14}\\\\\bold{=42}\\\\[/tex]

Therefore, the perimeter of the rectangle is "42".
