A cylindrical metal pipe has a diameter of 8.4 millimeters and a height of 10 millimeters. A hole cut out of the center has a diameter of 6 millimeters. What is the volume of metal in the pipe? Use 3.14 for π and round the answer to the nearest tenth of a cubic millimeter

Respuesta :

If you used the 8.4 diameter your answer would be about 554.2, but if you used the 6 diameter your answer would be about 282.7.
I hope this helps some.

The volume of the metal in the cylindrical pipe is 86.40π mm³.

What is the volume of the metal in the pipe?

The volume of the metal in the pipe is the difference between the volume of the metal pipe and the volume of the hole.

Volume of a cylinder = πr²h

Where :

π = pi

r = radius = diameter / 2

h = height

Volume of the metal in the pipe = π x 10[ ( 8.4/2)² - (6/2)²] = 86.40π mm³
