The beggining of the industrial revoution in the mid 18th century started an accelerated use of machines to do different jobs, with this the main power source used was the steam machines, which requiered carbon to be burnt in order to heat water that will later be steam and power different engines.

This increased the carbon dioxide levels, starting the industrial age.
