In pcr, it is important to use taq dna polymerase, as opposed to other dna polymerases. this is because taq is capable of synthesizing dna AFTER EXPOSURE TO 94° C.

Taq polymerase is a thermostable DNA polymerase. This means that it can withstand high temperature and is ideal in synthesizing DNA during PCR.

Taq polymerase under certain temperatures
1) optimum temperature for activity is 75–80 °C,
2) with a 
half-life of greater than 2 hours at 92.5 °C,
3) 40 minutes at 95 °C and 9 minutes at 97.5 °C,
4) can replicate a 1000 
base pair strand of DNA in less than 10 seconds at 72 °C
