Not necessarily..... a schism usually means that it split into two or another chapter broke off from it. This can result in a change of doctrines, usually from the part that spilt because they wanted change.
It does not necessarily meant that it changed its most important doctrine.

Schism refers to a situation where there is division or separation in an organization. It occur as a result of divergent views of individuals in an organization.
With regards to the above, it does not necessarily mean that it changed its most important doctrine. However, schism means that a different or new chapter has broken out of the main body because they wanted change or have new ideas.
An example of schism is when there is disagreement(due to belief system or ideologies) in a political party, hence a new party emerge from the original party .
