A subculture is a group of people who distinguish themselves from the parent culture to which they belong while frequently preserving some of its foundational ideas. When it comes to issues of culture, politics, and sexuality, subcultures create their own standards and morals.

Hippies, anti-gun organisations, high school athletes, environmental activists, members of the furry community, cosplayers, punks, goths, and a variety of other groups could all be considered subcultures.

The so-called Chicago School, which saw subcultures as manifestations of deviance and delinquency, conducted the initial sociological studies on them.
