Use the distance formula. √(x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2. √(4--6)^2+(3--1)^2. (10)^2 is 100 + (4)^2 is 16. 100+16=116, and square root of 116 is 2√29
the distance between[tex](x_1,y_1)[/tex] and [tex](x_2,y_2)[/tex] is
[tex]D= \sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2} [/tex]

so
distance between (-6,-1) and (4,3) is
[tex]D= \sqrt{(-6-4)^2+(-1-3)^2} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{(-10)^2+(-4)^2} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{100+16} [/tex]
[tex]D= \sqrt{116} [/tex]
D=2√29 or aprox 10.7703
