Ama, a telepath who is 18 years old, moonlights as a lounge singer at a smokey club at night in order to escape the demons of her past. She would prefer to continue being unknown and secure from the never-ending world war. She is then enlisted by the resistance organization
PHNX to assist in the rescue of young girls from a government experiment that is quite similar to the one she had left. Ama soon finds herself escorting the resistance on a number of perilous missions where she uses her telepathic and telekinetic abilities to infiltrate the activities of the authoritarian Alliance and gather information for the democratic opposition.
Ama learns about a brilliant new leader emerging in the Alliance ranks, a young man said to have no fear of dying, as they go closer and closer to the battle zone. His enterprise is to be destroyed from the inside by her team. Ama learns that the commander is actually Alex Kim, the boy who previously destroyed her heart, when she sees him for the first time.
