The nurse is concerned that a newborn is hypoglycemic that means the newborn have low blood sugar level.

Hypoglycemic occur when the treatment of diabetes for lowering the blood sugar level shows some side effect. It does not show any symptoms until the blood sugar level goes above 180 to 200 milligrams per deciliter in normal human body.

It can cause problem in newborn like shakiness, blue tint to skin, breathing and feeding. In newborn it is caused by the poor nutrition from mother and making more insulin in body. The blood sugar level goes above 45 milligrams per deciliter in newborn.

Diabetes means that the body's ability to produce insulin is impaired that result in abnormal metabolism.
