Silicosis is a lung disease that usually occurs after working in occupations such as foundry work, ceramics, and sandblasting.

Any of the levels of silica exposure can result in silicosis.

There are three types of silicosis:

  • Acute Silicosis- It occurs few weeks or months after high levels of silica exposure
  • Accelerated Silicosis- It occurs after 5-10 years of silica exposure.
  • Chronic Silicosis- It occurs after ten years of silica exposure.

It is so because Silicosis is a condition lead by inhaling excessive silica over a long period of time. As it is highly common, crystal-like mineral found in sand, rock, and quartz. It can have lethal upshots for people who work with stone, concrete, glass, and other forms of rock.
