Psychological factors, such as attitudes, motives and expectations, can also be important sources of bias.

Psychological factors, such as attitudes, motives and expectations are what shapes our thinking process, actions, and ultimately personality.  They direct our focus to particular aspects of a situation.

For example, an interviewer who is appraising the interviewee might have a motivation to help the latter. So, her mental focus and questions will be geared towards assessing challenges faced by the interviewee.

Bias is natural because it is integral to the very nature of humans that we have to filter out the sensations, information, and things we can receive to determine what is relevant and what is not.  But it is important to be aware of this aspect so we can mediate subjectivity in the process and try to adopt a more objective attitude and expectation.
