Information is a broad term for everything that has the potential to inform. Information is most essentially concerned with the interpretation of what may be felt. Any reasonably orderly natural process and every observable pattern in any media can be claimed to impart some level of information.

Other occurrences and artifacts, such as analog signals, poetry, images, melodies or other soundscapes, and currents, communicate information in a more continuous manner than digital signals and other data do. Information is not wisdom in and of itself but rather the interpretational meaning that can be drawn from a representation.

A procedure used to confirm or deny a theory, as well as evaluate the efficacy or probability of something that has not been attempted before, is considered an experiment. By demonstrating what occurs when a particular factor is manipulated, experiments shed light on cause-and-effect relationships. Experiments have a wide variety of goals and sizes but always require on a repeatable process and a coherent evaluation of the findings. Moreover, there are activities conducted in nature.

While teams of researchers may spend a long time performing systematic research to increase their grasp of an occurrence, a toddler may undertake simple experiments to discover how items fall to the ground. In the science classroom, students will benefit much from experiments and other hands-on activities.
