Impairments in executive functions are prominent in the early stages of a neurocognitive disorder.

Executive functions are the mental abilities that help us to concentrate, remember, plan and perform multi-tasking. In simple terms, executive skills help us to plan any task, identify its requirement as well execute it. When any person lacks in decision-making ability that means their executive functioning is improper.  

Neurocognitive disorder is the disorder where the brain does not function properly. It can be said that the disorder affects the executive functioning of the brain. Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Dementia, Huntington's are all neurocognitive disorders.
