The American Modernism movement in the 20th century, was the one of the most important artistic and cultural movement in the U.S. history.

This movement, American modernism movement, is considered to be a movement focused upon rejection of Enlightenment thinking and acceptance of a more industrialized world.  

The major schools emerged in this movement were;

the Stieglitz group, the Arensberg circle, color painters, Precisionism, the Independents, the Philadelphia school, New York independents, Chicago and westward.

It is considered widely that, the American Modernism had filled up the gap between art and socially diverse people of U.S. , the museums and art galleries developed throughout this period which filled a sense of modernity on citizens.

Also, the new painting styles had focused upon the emotional and psychic states of the public, which had worked as catalyst to the U.S. citizens of an American identity.
