Hydrocele will be the condition anticipated by the nurse for swelling the scrotum without pain.

About Hydrocele:

Fluid in the sac that typically surrounds the testicle causes a hydrocele. Frequently, it appears as a painless scrotum enlargement (the pouch that holds the testicle). Newborn males frequently have hydroceles, especially those who are premature.

As the channel narrows, most hydroceles in newborn males will resolve on their own. Those that do not improve on their own may need surgical correction because they are caused by a channel (or tube) that connects the abdomen to the scrotum and allows the abdominal fluid to drain into the scrotum (called a communicating hydrocele). In older boys, hydroceles can also develop during puberty or as an adult.
