What is Restraint ?

Devices that restrict a patient's movement are called restraints in a medical environment. A person can be restrained to prevent them from hurting themselves or others, such as their carers. They are a last-ditch measure. Restraints come in a variety of styles.

  • Lap belts, bed rails, Posey restraints or similar restraints, chairs with tables attached, and chairs or mattresses that are challenging to get out of, such as tip-back chairs, water chairs, bean bags, and curved edge mattresses, are examples of physical restraint devices.
