The Cycads are an exception, as insects move pollen from microsporangiate strobili to megasporangiate strobili.
Cycads unquestionably have a distinctive look that is related to their primitiveness or age. Because they produce motile sperm cells, which practically makes them unique among living seed plants, they represent a crucial link to the earliest of the ancient seed plants.
