The Vehicle Extrication Group of the Butte County Fire Department was established in 1995. Its major goal was to prolong the "Golden Hour" and thereby maximize the likelihood of survival for collision victims by speeding up the process of removing patients from cars. We think this has been accomplished. According to the "Golden Hour" theory, if a patient can reach the operating room within an hour of the accident, they will have the highest chance of surviving.
