The correct answer is phagosome.

What is ingestion in phagocytosis?

Phagocytosis is the cellular process by which particles larger than 0.5 m in diameter, such as bacteria, foreign substances, and apoptotic cells, are ingested and eliminated. Phagocytosis is found in many different types of cells and is hence an important step for tissue homeostasis. However, only specialised cells known as professional phagocytes are capable of high-efficiency phagocytosis. Among these specialised cells are macrophages, neutrophils, monocytes, dendritic cells, and osteoclasts. These professional phagocytes express a number of phagocytic receptors, which activate signalling pathways and result in phagocytosis. Phagocytosis occurs in four stages: I identification of the particle to be ingested, ii) activation of the internalisation process, iii) development of a specialised vacuole known as a phagosome, and iv) maturation of the phagocyte to transform it into a phagolysosome.
