The early stage symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy includes impaired thinking , mood swings , problem in sleeping and flapping of hands. It also includes constipation and restricted bowel movement.
Hepatic encephalopathy is generally an temporary neurological (nervous system) disorder that occurs due to chronic or severe liver condition. A diseased liver finds it very difficult to remove the toxins (substances created from the breakdown of food, alcohol, medications and even muscle) from the bloodstream. These toxins keep getting build up in the body and starts travelling to the brain. This toxicity affects the motor functions of the brain and causes cognitive impairment.
