Less is the appropriate answer.

The overall participation of citizens in the election is called the Voter Turnout. It is the ratio of the total vote cast on the total registered or eligible voters and this is how we get the Voter turnout rate. For a long time, the percentage of VTR is stuck between 54% and 59% in America.

As compared to the beginning years voting participation gradually increased; by up to 66%. Yet it's constantly declining as compared to the prime years when the people voted in large numbers. The highest number of voters participated in elections between the years 1964 and 1968.

Dissatisfaction with the parties or leaders, demographical change in the region, and less interest in political agendas could be some of the reasons that changes the VTR of America.
