What is Aneurysm ?
A weak spot in an artery that is inflating.
Aortic, brain, back of the knee, gastrointestinal, and splenic aneurysms are common. Internal bleeding and stroke can occur as a result of an aneurysm rupture. Sometimes it can even be fatal.
- Atherosclerosis and high blood pressure are the main causes. An aneurysm may develop as a result of deep wounds or infections. Or you can have a weak spot in one of your artery walls from birth.
- Angiography is typically used to diagnose a brain aneurysm. An X-ray technique called angiography is used to examine blood arteries. In order to do this, a needle must be inserted, typically in the groyne, through which a tiny tube known as a catheter can be inserted into a blood vessel.
