Brick Red is the hue that lets the nurse know the stoma is still alive.

What is  colon resection ?

A colonoscopy is a procedure to remove all or a portion of your colon. Surgery to remove the colon is another name for it. If part or all of your colon has stopped functioning or if it has an untreatable condition that puts other organs in danger, you may require a colectomy. Inflammatory bowel disorders and colon cancer are frequent causes.

The nurse can tell the stoma is still alive because of its brick red color. The client must demonstrate how to change an appliance properly before being let go.

The client's learning objectives must be measurable for the nurse to determine if they have been met.
