The concurrent majority was created to prevent the tyranny of the majority that its proponents felt may arise in an unrestrained democracy by giving each of the opposing interests in society some form of veto power.
Therefore, a concurrent majority is a majority in a different location (that would normally be in the nation's minority) with the authority to veto or reject legislation proposed by an adversarial majority
