Orjan Ouchterlony was the one who came up with this process. Theoretically, when soluble antigen and antibody samples are positioned in close proximity to one another in an agarose gel, they diffuse radially into the gel and create two diametrically opposed concentration gradients.

What's the Ouchterlony test's procedure?

In the Ouchterlony assay, many samples (the antigens) are deposited in the outside wells of a gel plate, while antibodies (antiserum) are placed in the central well.
The antigens and antibodies then diffuse out and produce various geometric precipitation lines in the gel.
