Common Sense was a book written by Thomas Paine when the American colonies were still under the control of England, its King, and his Parliament. In this book Thomas Paine attacked the polciies of England which were making life difficult for the colonists.
He called on the colonists to rebel against the English and to take control of the colonies for themselves to alleviate their suffering. He talked about how it made no sense that they were being ruled by a nation that was not only smaller than them, but was also quite far away.
