Respuesta :

The volume of air remaining in the lungs even after a forcible expiration is called Residual Volume.

What is Residual Volume ?

The amount of air still in the lungs following a maximally powerful expiration is known as residual volume (RV). In other words, it is the amount of air that the lungs are unable to remove, leaving the alveoli permanently open.

  • The lungs always have a residual volume of air during the breathing cycle when air is inhaled and exhaled to make sure that there is enough time for oxygen to be absorbed and for the carbon dioxide to be expelled.

Residual volume (RV) = Functional Residual Capacity – Expiratory Reserve Volume
