The James-Lange theory states that the emotional stimulus enters our sensory systems and causes emotional expression responses (somatic, autonomic, and endocrine) which causes us to feel emotions. ie. smiling makes you feel happy.

Pathos Emotions; power to elicit happiness, joy, pride, patriotism, fear, hate, guilt, despair, hope, hopelessness, bitterness, and other feelings

Ethos Ethics; refers to speaker credibility and makes speakers worthy of belief

Logos Logic; refers to the rational, factual basis that supports the speaker's position

What is the feeling theory?

The 'feeling theory of emotion' holds that emotions are to be identified with feelings. An objection commonly made to that theory of emotion has it that emotions cannot be felt only, as emotions have intentional objects.
