The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States between the United States and the Confederacy.
The remote cause of the war was due slavery rights, especially the expansion of slavery into territories acquired as a result of the Louisiana Purchase and the Mexican–American War.
The civil war was one of the major fallouts of federalism because states wanted to decide for themselves if they would permit slavery or not.
The fourth Amendment to the United states constitution states that No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
This legislation aims at conflicting the idea of federalism and as such it has prove to be a constant source of conflict
