The emotional aspects of pain are encoded by the anterior cingulate cortex, somatosensory area and  prefrontal cortex.

The anterior cingulate cortex is accountable for a bunch of psychological feature functions, together with emotional expression, attention allocation, and mood regulation.

The somatosensory area help humans recognize objects, acknowledge objects, discriminate textures, generate sensory-motor feedback and exchange social cues. Sensory neurons relay peripheral sensations like pain, pressure, movement or temperature from the skin to the brain.

The frontal cortex plays a very important role within the interpretation, expression and regulation of feeling. Amygdale has reciprocal connections with frontal lobe regions, that recommend that medial frontal cortex is in a very position to control and organize emotion–based actions.
