The Uranus and Neptune have rings, many moons and are part of a group called the outer planets.

What is the meaning of outer planet?

The outer planets refers to any of the planets in our solar system whose orbits lie beyond the asteroid belt.

The characteristic shared by the outer planets is that they are large in size compared to inner planets.

There are 4 outer planets in our solar system namely:

  • Jupiter
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Neptune.

In the group, the Jupiter is the largest outer planet whereas the Uranus is the smallest but all the outer planets have a lot of moons and thin ring systems made of dust and rocks.

Therefore, the Uranus and Neptune have rings, many moons and are part of a group called the outer planets.
