Debs saw a nation out-of-balance, where a small group of business owners and the government had a singular focus on churning an economic machine to the detriment of all else. He saw a democratic government no longer focused on its founding role or ideal to be for and by the people, taken over. He found it morally unacceptable. Can you see his point at the time?
