The United States was founded by the British who are descended from the Anglos and Saxons. As such, Anglo-Conformity refers to Americanization to become more of a British American.
Immigrants from 1880 to 1924 were mostly Eastern Europeans and Chinese who realized quickly that in order to get ahead in America, they needed to try to be as American as possible.
This included learning English for one, and respecting American laws.
