The Black Death had a wide range of consequences. For a period, trade suffered, and conflicts were put on hold. Many laborers died, wreaking havoc on families and causing personal pain; landowners who employed labourers as tenant farms were also harmed. Serfdom in Western Europe came to an end as a result of the plague. The manorial system was already doomed, but by 1500, the Black Death had wiped it out across much of western and central Europe.
