Answer: By challenging accepted principles, Wollstonecraft was one of the first proponents of women’s rights.
Mary Wollstonecraft was an English writer, philosopher and advocate of women's rights. Wollstonecraft is best known for "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman" (1792). In it, she challenged accepted principles, by stating that women were not naturally inferior to men, but that they only lacked education and opportunities for development. She was a proponent of reason in all social matters. Wollstonecraft was also known because of her unconventional lifestyle.
