No matter what the technology is, but generally the more crops we produce, the lower the prices are. However we can observe from a few years kind of a new phenomenon: there's a bigger demand for some of the food products, so we're producing more but the prices are getting higher too.
The executive Deparment of Agriculture helps farmers. They subsidize the farmers, help ensure that the food is safe for Americans, set regulations, and are involved in the banning of certain pesticides or medicines for livestock. The current Secretary of Agriculture is Tom Vilsack, he was sworn in January 21, 2009.
