Answer:
Let’s say you’re a Manchu king and you conquer China.
The Chinese have very good food, writing, more beautiful and comfortable clothing than you do, knowledge of how to run a government etc. etc. You’re not going to want to live in your yurt (or whatever the Manchu equivalent is) now that you’re king of a civilized nation. You’re going to want to eat some of that nice food, rather than boiled mutton or whatever every day. You’re going to at least want your children to know how to write. You’re going to want to learn Chinese so that you can communicate with your subjects. You’re going to need their help to run the government. You and many of your men might marry Chinese women. With their makeup and their pretty dresses and so forth, they’d probably look pretty good to a nomad. If you did, your kids would be genetically half-Chinese. They’d be surrounded by Chinese culture. It might be hard to keep them trained in the skills you needed in nomad societies (crazy horsemanship skills, for one). It’s pretty easy to see how this could happen in just a few generations.
Similar stuff happened with the Vikings under Hrolf, who took over Normandy in the early 900s. By the time they invaded England in 1066, they were culturally almost indistinguishable from other French people.
