A-The colonies rebelled against British authority primarily because they no longer had reason to dread French conquest, the British expanded their regulation and taxation of the colonies, and the colonies had outgrown colonial rule.

Q-  Explain why the colonists believed they had the right to rebel.

A- Individual liberty was important to the people who had established in North America. Because of their strong religious or political beliefs, many of them had fled Europe. They reacted angrily when the British government levied levies on them without consulting the colonies' local governments.

The colonies rebelled against England because they had high taxes, they had to pay taxes for many things including newspapers, legal documents, and other things that were essential for them. They wanted to be self-governed, to be free, they wanted to make their own laws, their own democracy, and England wasn't giving this to them. The colonist felt like they had no say in the government and the taxes were unfair, England was taking the taxes without consent. So they rebelled.
