Honestly, this seems as if its an open ended opinionated question. But in my opinion, I believe it would be the use of fire and how they were able to learn more about agriculture. They were nomads moving from one place to another, but as they were able to learn how to provide heat, cook food, etc. That might have allowed them to stay, while for agriculture they were able to plant grains, etc. Which was another source of food for them - later this would be a chain reaction since food > surplus > communities/rise in population > more roles/duties for the people to do = staying in one area.
