Starch is a large polymer of glucose subunits and is the storage form of glucose in plants. Sources include seeds, grains, corn, beans, potatoes, and rice. There are actually two types of starch: amylose and amylopectin. Amylose is a long, unbranched, chain of glucose subunits.

Sucrose: Glucose + Fructose
Lactose: Glucose + Galactose
Maltose: Glucose + Glucose
Glucose, also called dextrose, one of a group of carbohydrates known as simple sugars (monosaccharides). Glucose (from Greek glykys; “sweet”) has the molecular formula C6H12O6. It is found in fruits and honey and is the major free sugar circulating in the blood of higher animals.
